Welcome to southern Illinois! Our cottage is located on our second farm across the road from our home farm. It is suitable for families with children or just a couple seeking lodging in a quiet country setting. Not rustic or elegant, just an old-fashioned cozy place to relax. We are conveniently close to I-57 and 64 and located between the towns of Mt. Vernon and Benton. Close by is the beautiful Rend Lake for nature lovers and those wanting outdoor recreation. There are also several Mennonite congregations nearby which would welcome you to join them if you are staying over a weekend and need a place to worship. We look forward to your stay! Make it your home away from home!

We are a couple with nine children, but most have grown and left home to varied lives and responsibilities. Three are married with families and the singles use home as their base when not busy elsewhere. We have been blessed with 35 years together and have called the Midwest home for 30 of those years. We are farmers and have hogs and steers and do some grain. Sam also drives semi for a local farm business, hauling rock, mulch and grain. Hazel finds fulfillment in caring for her family, home making and gardening and, in the winter, enjoys sewing and quilting.
